Welcome UMB M.Ed. ID students and other fellow foodies! Although it may SAY restaurants just in MN, I do love to travel and would love your help in creating a national list and possibly international list from A-Z, let's get started!
I was teaching in Memphis last week and I ate in Alcinea's. Heard about it from diners, drive-ins and dives. I brought all my students to the restaurant. The food was fantastic (soul food) and the owner was so sweet. She came around and kissed us all on the forehead before we left
Last night we had dinner at a local Mexican restaurant in Surf City, NC, just down the road. I had heard mixed reviews and had postponed my first visit, but last night I wanted something nearby. We really enjoyed our meal and the server was very patient and answered all my newcomer's questions. I will return and recommend it to others. For just about $10 we each had enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Name of restaurant: Camino Real, Surf City, NC
I was in Fort Collins, Colorado a few months ago and we ate at a great Mexican restaurant, called the Rio. The restaurant doesn't open until 5:00, and even though there was a line out the door at 4:30, we got seated pretty quickly. The authentic Mexican food is amazing, and the margaritas are so good you are only allowed 2! I definitely recommend it!

The Chef's Tasting menus at both Vetri (www.vetriristorante.com) and Jones (http://www.jameson8th.com/) in Philadelphia are great but rather $$$.
However - in this economy, both often offer great specials via their websites...
Reading Terminal Market (www.readingterminalmarket.org)is a blast with all sorts of great food - and not pricey, either...
DiNic's pork sandwich with hot peppers and sharp provolone and the Amish fresh baked pretzels and other baked goods are delish and cheap eats!
